At Holy Cross School, we believe homework is important because:
- Children have an opportunity to reinforce classroom learning
- Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning
- Children develop good study patterns
Homework will reflect the classroom the classroom programme and may involve some parent input and monitoring. Junior school students bring home books to read each day. They are not expected to know every word, but please listen to your child as he or she reads. All children must bring all their school books back to school every day.
Holy Cross has a well resourced library and computer suite. Every class has a timetabled session in the library and computer suite. All children are expected to take a book out of the library each week as part of their recreational reading. Library books are the responsibility of each child and any books that are lost or damaged must be paid for. The library is open during lunchtime for research, extra study and quiet reading.Senior students have the opportunity to train as Librarians and help with library activities during lunchtimes.
