Harinui Syndicate Term 2

24 June 2020 · by Mrs de Koning

Harinui Syndicate are enjoying learning and playing together back at school for Term 2!

Here is our class working on Mathematics. We were talking about Geometry. Everyone knows lots of shape names and can find objects in the classroom which are squares, rectangles, circles, hearts …and more!

Here are some of our displays we have worked on together. They show that we are a team who work together. We like to go back often to read and look at the activities we have completed.

We are all unique and Tapu!

Recently we have been thinking about the Holy Spirit in Religious Education. We learned that these things remind us of the Holy Spirit: water, air, doves and flames. We also know that the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity – “Father, Son and Holy Spirit!”

Jacinda Ardern- Our Hero

17 June 2020 · by Miss Helsham

What an awesome surprise for Room 14 this morning when we received a letter from our Prime Minister- Jacinda Ardern.

A few weeks ago we all wrote letters to her expressing our thanks for getting us into lockdown early and saving lives especially ours. We thought she would be too busy to reply but this morning with much delight, we received her letter. You can imagine how excited we all were when Ms Helsham told us about the letter. We were even more excited when it was read to us.

Thank you for replying and all the best Jacinda we are so proud of you and yes if we were old enough to vote you’d have ours.

Good luck for the upcoming elections… You got this…

From your biggest fans… Room 14.

Toi Matariki-Year 3 Tumanako

7 June 2016 · by Mr Norman

This term the Year 3 children in the Tumanako area will be attending a workshop that is on offer at the VODAFONE EVENTS CENTRE as part of their learning about the Arts and also for Matariki celebrations.

The workshop is called: Toi Matariki

“The Toi Matariki workshop provides opportunities for students to experience the traditional Maori art forms of raranga (weaving), kotuhi (stone painting) and uku (clay work). Experienced in the light of storytelling myths and legends, the workshops are delivered from a Maori art perspective by the senior artists who support the creation of a narrative for their toi (art) production. This highly engaging and fun exercise also stresses the role of nature in society and the importance of taking care of the environment”

The children will need to make sure that they bring their P.E gear so that they can participate in the workshop.

Date: Thursday 30th June 2016

Cost of the trip: $ 5

Leaving school: 9 approx. and returning around 12.30pm

Miss Lord, Miss Damons and Mrs Ryan will be taking the Year 3 children on this trip and the Year 4 children will remain at school with Mrs Gass and Mr Norman.
