Jesus help us to follow you! We are getting ready for Easter during Lent.
Room 1a promise to share and take turns with each other.
Room 1 made a promise.
Room 2 promise to be kind and gentle friends.
The children of Room 2a promise to be: helpful, happy, caring, loving and amazing.
Room 3 promises to pray more and be friends with everyone.
Our Lenten Promises make a beautiful display by the Altar.
Mrs Bucheler makes a cross on our forehead.
Mrs Lucre holds the ashes. They were made from palm leaves saved from last Easter.
After we receive our cross we say, “Amen.”
Mrs Lucre puts a cross on our forehead. “Turn away from sin and be true to the Gospel,” she says.
We are spending time with God during our Liturgy.
We are happy to be praising God on Ash Wednesday!
On Wednesday 5th March the children from Years 1-4 had an Ash Wednesday Liturgy in the Church. We listened to Bible readings, said prayers, read out our Lenten Promises and also received our cross of ash on our forehead. We spent time with God, asking him to help us get ready for Easter throughout the 40 days of Lent. We will try to be more like Jesus as we prepare for celebrating his death and resurrection at Easter.
During week 6 we will be focussing on Lent during Religious Education and some other integrated subject areas such as Art, Social Sciences, Story Writing and Reading.
We will cover:

LO 1: recognise Lent as the season for getting ready for Easter.
LO 2: identify ways people get ready for Easter.
Lesson 2: Getting ourselves ready for Easter:
LO 1: recognise that people get ready for Easter by loving God and others.
LO 2: name ways people can be more loving during Lent.
Lesson 3: Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Lent season:
LO1: name the first day of Lent
LO2: recognise that Ash Wednesday ritual of the signing with ashes.
