Dear Peter thank you for teaching me how to be good at swimming.Thank you for teaching me how to be safe for all times in the water.

from David Ibrahim Rm 13 Holy Cross School Papatoetoe

Dear Mr Young

Thank you for paying for us to swim at Otara pools. It is fun to take swimming lessons. now I know how to do back strokes, freestyle and breaststroke.

Thank you very much

From Ariana Mehau-Lave

Dear Peter.

Thank you for helping me to stay safe in oceans and when something happens to me in the  middle of nowhere. I loved the experience of swimming and learning some really cool drops. Thank you from  Teresa rm 13 holy cross catholic school. Next time I hope to learn how to do breast stroke because it is one of the hardest strokes I think.

“We got into three groups. Our workshop was about Maori games. It was fun because we learned how to play some”

Sarai Rm 12

“When we go to the Vodafone Event centre we talked about Matariki. We got into groups and Room 13 wove a Matariki star. It was quite hard to weave but kind of fun”

Astyn  Rm 13

“We followed a guy to a table and we sat down on a chair. He started to talk to us about Maori gods. He showed us how to play some Maori games. After that we went back to the mat to show people a dance. Room 13 and 11 shared too”

Practises rough conditions

Yeah! Its time to go to swimming.

When we got to the pools we got changed out of our P.E gear. We hopped into the warm water with our life jackets on. First we did a pin drop then a shark came and ate TeManea! Did you know that it was meant to be a safety lesson? After the we did a backward pin drop and then… one of the teachers got eaten by the same shark that ate TeManea. Then the lesson ended because we had no teacher.

Swimming lessons

Room 13 missed out on swimming so we called the bus driver to Holy Cross Catholic School and got paid $ 10 966. He dashed to the school and we pranked him. Room 13 rushed out of our room, Miss Damons was the last one to get onto the bus so she paid an extra $ 10 000. When she finished paying the driver the doors closed and he raced to the pools. We felt so rushed that we jumped into the pool with our school uniforms on.  After the lesson we were so annoyed that we walked all the way back to school so our clothes could dry.

In the morning we lined up so we could get in the bus, when we sat down we zoomed to the pools. When we arrived at the pools we got changed. We sat at the side of the pools waiting for safety jackets.  I think the saefty jacket was so we do not sink to bottom of the pool.

After the teachers showed us what to do to be safe they splashed eater over our faces while we did backstroke we also had to cross our hearts with our arms. After the lesson we got a noodle and pretended to save someone by putting the noodle out so someone can put their hand out to get it.

Terrified

One amazing day my dad and I were at the movies. As we arrived we watched it. By the way, we were watching Despicable Me. In 4D they were real once we took our glasses off!… AHHHHH! Dinosaurs, cave people and snow goblins. Dad! dad, dad! “What’s the matter” he asked?  “Take the glasses off” I yelled. With a sigh he took them off. “Daleena, Run! I’ll come” said dad. He could see the characters come to life.

I went to my house, dad took the bat and killed the monsters, dinosaurs and everything else.  I hid behind the couch and waited for dad. D-A-L-E-E-N-A. I heard dad call. I got up slowly. “It’s safe Honey!” he said holding his arms out to me. “I love you” I said as a walked to him. “Love you too” he smiled. I felt safe.

Room 13’s Reading

Monlight Sonata- Ludwig van Beethoven –

sonata music
Beethoven

As part of our poetry reading and understanding, Room 13 has been listening to The moonlight Sonata composed by Beethoven. We have been trying to connect thoughts and emotions to this piece of classical music. Here are some of our thoughts:

 Moonlight Sonata

Moonlight dazzled in my hallway. I followed it all the way outside where it led me to a cliff. I heard the moon god saying ” Fall, I will catch up with my white dazzling body, I will lift you up and lead you into the sky.” There you will sit beside me and get a rod to catch people who are as stunning as me.

By Leaony Macdonald

Moon over earth

Last night the moon looked like it was covreed with human blood and the scent of roses. The moon looked so haunted that it went higher and then the trees couldn’t even sing one note.

By Joshua DeGuzman

I was outside in the dark blood moon, I felt like it was giving a cold breeze. The dark moon played a gentle song and it felt like the first time you feel alive

Sina Finau

Moon Sonata

I woke up in the night and saw the moon far, far away  from earth. It was freezing cold. There were trees right in front of the moon and I saw their reflection. The reflection disappeared because the clouds blocked it.
