Greetings to you all and welcome back to Term 3,
Hope you managed to have a good holiday with your children and are ready for the term ahead.
First of all I’d like to take time to offer our condolences to KADIAN POLAMALU-TOALIMA & RODEL WONGTUNG-KOMITI and their families on the loss of their beautiful mothers. We can’t fathom what you are both going through right now but please be assured of our love and continual support for you both. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. We also pray for the soul of Peter who was always there to help us in the afternoon with our rubbish. Eternal rest grant to them oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of these three beautiful people:

Our units this term:
PRAYER/ SACRAMENTS STRAND/ CHURCH STRAND
Health: COPING WITH CHANGE- Experiencing loss in our lives.
Science: CHEMICAL CHANGES TO FOOD; Milk and Milk Products.
Social Science: COMMUNITY PROJECTS… in our local Papatoetoe Community.
Writing: Information Reports/ Recounts/ Procedural writing.
Reading: Children read at their ability levels and are encouraged to use comprehension skills.
Spelling: YOU CAN SPELL books. Children work at their ability level.
Handwriting: We follow the Holy Cross Education plan for Years 3 and 4.
Multiplication/ Division/ Fractions/ Measurement.
Swimming every Monday starting in Week 2.
Exploration of an artist/ WHO STOLE THE RAINBOW?

SPECIAL EVENTS DURING TERM 3
Week 1 Full School Beginning of Term Mass New school and house leaders chosen
Week 2 Monday: Swimming starts: Monday 29th July. Your child will come to school in their school uniform and change into their School fitness t-shirt and black shorts. Children can change into their swimming togs at Morning teatime. They will need to bring a towel, spare underwear and goggles (optional), all items to be in a carry bag please so that your child does’t drop or lose anything. No child will be allowed to go to swimming in their school uniform. Boys need to have shorts to swim in and a different pair to wear back to school when they take their wet ones off.
Thursday: WORLD OF MATHS EXPO. Cost $2.00
Week 3 MATHS WEEK Vodafone Events Centre- WHETU & NICK play- 10 am, (no charge) all classes from year 3-8 will attend this
Week 4 Confirmation- Tuesday 13 August- 6pm in church, for all Year 4 children who have made their First Holy Communion.
AMBURY TRIP- Friday 16 August 9.15- 2pm Cost of trip $8 (for lesson and bus). We will need 3-4 Parent Helpers please?

As you can see in the special events column, we have upcoming trips to;
- Vodafone Events centre for Whetu and Nick at no cost to you.
- Ambury Farm. Yes we will need Parent Helpers, 3- 4 per class, if you are available for the day, Friday 16th August please let your child’s teacher know. Cost $8.00
- We are also walking down to the Papatoetoe Community centres to do some community work and we need 2 Parent Helpers to walk down there with us. Cost $2.00
Tuesday 17th September- GYM CITY 11.30am- Room 16
Wednesday 18th September- PAPATOETOE COMMUNITY GARDENS 10am- Room 15
Thursday 19th September- PAPATOETOE WAR MEMORIAL LIBRARY 10.30am- Room 14
The cost of our 3 trips this term is $12. A permission slip for these two events will be sent out next week.
