Belonging to Holy Cross School
This term the Aroha Syndicate have been learning about Belonging to Holy Cross Catholic School and our Church. During weeks 2-5 we have been focussing on this topic and developing our friendships and relationships with those within our class and the school environment. Below are the learning outcomes for this topic and other learning areas.

|Children are able to name and draw important people in the school.

Children are able to name at least 3 class rules/ Treaty rules and take ownership of them
e.g Taking turns and sharing equipment, Using walking feet inside the classroom, Raising your hand to share ideas
|Children can say the forwards number sequences in the range 0-20 at least.
Children can count groups of objects up to 20.
Children can make up, tell and record number stories up to ten
e.g. I have 4
stickers and my teacher gives me 2 more stickers. How many stickers do I have altogether now ?
|Children can write a description about something God has created using 4 descriptors.
Tigers have black stripes and orange fur. They have four large paws with sharp claws. They sneak up on other animals when hunting for food. Tigers have smooth soft fur on their bodies.
The seven descriptors are: Colour, Size, Texture, Number, Doing, Shape, Position
|Children are learning to develop a large bank of high frequency words to help them with their Reading.
Children are learning to recognise rhyming words to decode new words
e.g. cat, sat, mat, hat, bat
