During Week 5 Harinui Syndicate continued their Science experiments. We were learning about how to make our balls bounce and roll the best!
We tried to roll and bounce on different surfaces. On the soft matting, on the grass, on the artificial turf. We found the harder the surface was the higher it bounced, the faster it rolled!
We used different types of balls – tennis, softball, netball, basketball, rugby and soccer balls. Some bounced better than others. Some rolled better than others.
Next we tried rolling the balls from different positions. On the slide, on the stairs, on the ramp, on the grass, on the path. We found that if we rolled the ball down a slope it went faster!
We had fun while we were completing our experiments. We talked together about what was happening. Everyone looked at what their friends were doing. Mrs de Koning was watching us. She asked us questions about what was happening and took photos of us.
We found we could make a ball roll faster by kicking it. We saw that we could make a ball go higher than a bounce by kicking it too!
