Our Vision: Learning and Growing in Christ

Dear Parents,

Scripture reminds us that all of us in our lives have made the wrong choices and decisions and that through this God is always ready to forgive. God calls on us to leave our wayward ways and walk along the path mapped out for us by our loving Father. Like the father in the Gospel, God waits and watches for our return. Like the shepherd searching for lost sheep, like the housewife searching for the lost coin, God patiently waits for us to come to our senses and return home. The Scripture challenges us to seek and find that which gives us time and lasting peace. We are called to remember God’s faithfulness and compassion towards us and to put it into practice in our own lives. It is then that we will find true peace and know we rest in Him. The journey isn’t easy but what awaits us at the end makes it all worthwhile.

Water Polo
On Sunday 3^rd September our Years 5 & 6 water polo team will compete at the Manurewa pools. Parents are welcome to attend.

Junior Singles Indoor Bowls
On Sunday 13^th August our indoor bowls team competed in the Manukau Junior Singles Indoor Competition against other South Auckland clubs. There were 17 entries overall with 7 entries from Holy Cross. I would like to acknowledge all of our team who played well and congratulate Ella Kay and Shweta Mann who came 3^rd equal.

PhotoLife Studios – Class Photos
Today PhotoLife Studios was at school from 9am to take class photos. You will need to drop your envelope with the correct money enclosed into PhotoLife Studios, 12 Jack Conway Ave, Manukau after today as they have collected all orders.

Fathers’ Day Raffle
We are selling a Fathers’ Day Raffle in the School Office. The tickets are $1.00 each and the raffle will be drawn on Friday 1^st September.

Class Trip
On Thursday 31^st August the Tumanako Syndicate will visit the Tip Top factory as part of their topic study.

Papatoetoe Principals’ Music Festival
The Papatoetoe Principals’ Music Festival will be held at the Vodafone Event Centre in Manukau on Wednesday 6^th September. The evening will run from 6.30pm – 8.30pm with the doors opening at 6pm. If you wish to purchase tickets to this event, the tickets are priced at $10.00 each and can be purchased from the School Office.

APPA Primary Schools’ Music Festival
The Auckland Primary Principal Association Music Festival will be held on Tuesday 14^th November. Tickets MUST BE ordered no later than Friday 15^th September. The tickets will cost $10.00 each for adults and children. Please pay your money at the School Office.

St Anne’s Shield
The St Anne’s Shield will be held on Tuesday 12^th September at Bruce Pulman Park in Papakura. Games will start at approximately 9am and parents are welcome to attend.

The woman had a terrible headache
An old lady sat alone in the cold on the side of the street at night. Her wrinkly smile started to fade as the wind blew upon her cheek. Her fingers clutched against her face as she ached in pain. The sound of screeching rubber tyres of cars passing by her caused a terrible, terrifying headache which petrified her in agony.

The partially blind old woman was in the middle of a meeting with the president of the United States. She clutched her head as a ferocious pain from the sound of a high pitched screech from the bell sounded. Her head ache was unimaginable.

The girl who witnessed an accident
As the beautiful young woman was skipping across the busy intersection a speeding fancy modern car going as fast as lighting, swerved around her and caused a terrifying, terrible, tremendous car crash. Booom! Crraash! skreetch! She was shocked like a stunned mullet. Sarah had just witnessed a horrific car crash between a car and a truck. Her eyes were drawn to the accident that happened in an instant. It was like watching a movie in slow motion.

The boy pulled a large fish out of the river.
Tugging and heaving, a young university fellow was struggling to pull a slimy, slippery shiny salmon with all his might and stealthy strength out of the glimmering rough water.
