We went to the Papatoetoe Library to meet the team from the Auckland Museum. They taught us about Matariki. We enjoyed walking there!
It was fun to meet new people, see the resources the Auckland Libraries have about Matariki and see the things that came from the Auckland Library too.
Then we were taught a new Matariki song to sing. The song had actions to do. We were very good at it!
We went over it several times to get perfect! See how well we did!
Next we listened to a story about Matariki. There were some interesting artifacts used to tell the story. Here are two videos of us singing the Matariki song.
Later we made a badge which was to remember someone special to us. We used felt tips to do our drawing and then wore the badge back to school.
Later Mrs B played her ukulele and we sang a thank you song to all the people in the library. We had a lovely time.
