Last week we went for a visit to New World. Half of the syndicate stayed in the playground and half went straight in to New World. We looked at all the healthy food, fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products.
We tried to name all of the fruit and vegetables We learned which animal the meat came from too.
Mrs Bucheler was away, so Mrs Brindle took one group. We were very lucky two parents agreed to come with us.
We read all the signs and labels too. We looked at all the products on the shelves. We talked about what our family likes to buy. Can you see which items are healthy, and which should just be treat foods?
We enjoyed our time at the playground behind New World. We took turns and supported each other!
The people at New World were all very friendly and helpful. In went the second group of students. We liked seeing all the colours, sizes and shapes the fruit and vegetables came in.
We walked around the store ticking off our check list. It showed the foods we read about in our Dual Language Reader called – Finding Mum. We also glued a copy of the list into our scrapbooks to tick off at home if we could read the words. We found noodles, coconut cream, sausages and yoghurt. But there was no TARO in the store!
Two of our groups bought some fruit for us to enjoy back at school. We chose mandarins and grapes. Look at the bags of fruit and our receipts to show we paid for our purchases.
We walked sensibly back to school and sat in a circle to enjoy our healthy fruit treat. YUM!
