Today Mrs de Koning brought her popcorn maker to school. She also brought a jar of corn kernels. We looked at the little orange corn seeds. We held them and felt them. We could describe them in a lot of ways.
We talked about safety before we plugged in the popcorn maker and turned it on. We knew that the popcorn was popped using heat. Just like toast is made from bread by heating it in the toaster!
We put the corn into the popcorn maker. We turned it on. Around went the hot air. We could hear the motor working. We waited and waited. Each person looked carefully into the top of the popcorn maker. The corn kernels were spinning around and around.
Suddenly we heard a noise, pop, pop, pop! Out came the popped corn! Like little fluffy clouds. Like tiny sheep. Smelling delicious.
