On Wednesday 14th September we enjoyed celebrating the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
We began the day by welcoming our Family/Whanau in to our Syndicate. It was lovely to share our day with them and show them some of the fantastic things we are learning each day.
First there was prayer, to draw close to God.
Here is a clip of our special song we learned for Holy Cross Week. it is called “A Cross of Stars” and is about Mary MacKillop, who came to New Zealand to help people. She is a nun called St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She became the first and only Australian saint on 17 October 2010!
and here is another copy of the chorus –
Next we did some action maths.
We love to sing and move as we learn to count to 100.
Next we moved into groups to do some Maths. Ms O’Grady worked on the ActivBoard completing some IXL Maths.
Mrs Bucheler worked with 10s Frames and Mrs de Koning did some Finger Flash Maths. There were a lot of different things going on to show our Family/Whanau how we learn about numbers.
Next we moved into Reading. We read to ourselves, read to our buddies and practised our Scripture Readings too!
It was fun to read with our family too! We had Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandads, Brothers and Sisters all come to share with us.
Here we are practising our Scripture Reading……we were great!
We also like to read our little school readers. The more we read, the better we get!!
More to come!!
