One day last term, suddenly a duck arrived at school. It must like us a lot because when we came back from the holidays it was still at school.
Last week we went outside to look at it, talk about it and then return to class to write about it!
We shared ideas with our friends. We talked and talked! Even though we were quite noisy the duck was not upset. It did not get scared or move away! We looked at the duck, and the duck looked at us!
We named the duck’s body parts and talked about how they were special to ducks. We found out about their webbed feet which help them swim, and their rounded end on their beak to scoop up water, grass and worms adn bugs. It has nostrils at the bottom to smell food on the ground.
We were very excited and did some wonderful oral language as we discussed what we could see and what we knew about ducks!
