Greetings Parents/Whanau
Today a letter is going home about our trip to the Auckland Botanic Gardens as part of our science topic for the living world. Our topic is about plants and we are focusing on trees.
Here is a little bit about what the children will be learning at the Botanic Gardens that has been supported in class:
All about trees: their parts, lifecycles and relationship with animals. Big experiences Why do trees have roots? What’s bark for? Why are some leaves big and some small? Through a series of creative and sensory activities students explore the wonderful world of trees. They learn about the different parts of a tree, the role each part plays and how we and other animals depend on trees for survival. On a walk through the native plantings, students meet some iconic native trees and learn how they can play a part in protecting our environment.
The dates for the trip are below:
Wednesday 2nd March: Room 11 and 12
Thursday 3rd March: Room 10 and 13
Regards Mr Norman
