On Thursday 27th November the Harinui Syndicate walked to the Papatoetoe Recreation Grounds to hold their Athletics Day.
After the running races we did some relay races.
- Leaders in place
- Ready to go
- I can beat you!
- Lots of parent helpers
- The boys go very fast
- Zoom, zoom!
- All lined up
- Holding out the baton
- Go, go, go!
- Running in a straight line
- Speedy
- I can do it!
The girls did well in the relay races too!
We had fun doing the ‘high jump’ which was not very high! We were careful not to fall over as we lept into the air.
And then the ‘Egg and Soon Race’, we used a wooden spoon with a small bean bag balanced on the top. We didn’t want to waste any eggs. We ran up and back and passed the spoon to our next team mate. It was heaps of fun!
Then we all had a go at the discus – using plastic plates – they sure had a mind of their own…next time we will try frizbees, they may fly straighter!!
Lat of all Mrs de Koning gave us some hints about doing the sack race. It was a super race. Thanks Mr O’ for thinking of getting them out of the sports shed for us! We loved it… A great last race.
Here are some short movies of the action!
And another one – hear the fun we are having?
And one more!
After all that fun and exercise we walked back to school in time to enjoy our lunch!
