The students of the Harinui Syndicate have been experimenting with both dough and clay this term. It culminated in making clay pinch pots….sshhh! they are for Christmas gifts!
Next we all got a lump of soft clay to start shaping it into our pot. Rolling, pinching, shaping, creating.
Sometimes we needed to squash the clay back and start again. Sometimes the shape went wrong. Sometimes the top was too thin and cracked. Sometimes the bottom was too thick. Sometimes the shape was wonky! But we kept on trying!
When we thought our pinch pot was ‘just right’ Mrs de Koning scratched our name into he bottom, so we would know which was our own special pot! We hope that Paddy will fire them in the kiln at school this week, so that we can paint and decorate them. The next steps will be exciting too…. Watch this spot.
