On Thursday all the students from Harinui Syndciate walked back to the Papatoetoe Teaching Gardens. We took our two scarecrows in a wheelbarrow to give to the people at the gardens. We wanted to say thank you for our lovely visit earlier in the year.
We had nice surprise when we saw all our friends there to welcome us – Ms Jenny Clark, Mr and Mrs Newsome and Adele Foster who we had met during our last visit – and our visit to the RSA. They were happy to see us again. and were very pleased to see our scarecrows we had made for them! One of our scarecrows is a man and one is a woman.
Mrs Newsome had already decided on two specail places in the gardens where our scarecrows could go. With Mr Newsome’s help we got the scarerows standing tall and straight i the gardens – ready to scare off all the birds.
After our scarecrows were safely in the ground we looked around the grden on our way out. We saw lots of healthy vegetables growing in the gardens. We also saw some people working in their gardens, weeding them and looking after their vegetables.
We are sure that our scarecrows will have fun in their new home at the Papatoetoe Teaching Gardens on Cambridge Terrace.
We know we had a great time there!!
