On the Thursday of week 2 the students of Harinui Syndicate walked to Allenby Park. We like to walk – it keeps us fit and healthy.
We used the trip as a pilgrimage, a reflective journey. Five times we stopped to hear one of the 5 Joyful Mysteries. Here they are:
After arriving at Allenby Park and hearing about the 5th Mystery we decided to do our daily jogging. Each day at 12.10pm Rooms 2, 2a and 4a do 2 Jump Jam songs. Then we jog around the school field about 4 or 5 times. We are getting so fit and healthy. Our stamina is improving and we are developing a good jogging style. Our teachers encourage us to do our best. If we get tired we switch to power walking until we can start jogging again.
When we finish, one of our teachers leads us in a simple ‘cool down’ with stretches and breathing exercises.
Next we split into 3 groups. One class played on the playground. One class played with the large balls. And one class played with the hoops. We also had some tennis balls and cricket bats to play with if we finished early.
Here are the balls:
Here are the hoops:
By the time we walked home we were feeling very tired. What a great morning we had at Allenby Park!
