On Thursday we also went to the Papatoetoe Museum. We were especially looking at old cooking utensils.
Three volunteers showed us some of the old equipment that people used in their kitchens to help them cook their food.
We saw things that were used to make butter. And talked about milk too.
One table was all about how flour is made and used in cooking.
One table had potatoes on it and tools to use in preparing them to eat.
Then after the activity tables we went into the museum to look at all the old things people in Papatoetoe had saved. They donated the objects to the museum for people to look at and talk about.
We enjoyed looking at the things our parents, grandparents and great grandparents might have had in their homes and used every day. Some things we didn’t even recognise!
