On Thursday the 6th of August Rooms 2 and 2a walked to the Hunters Plaza ASB.
We were very careful walking along the road and crossing the streets on the way to Hunters Plaza. We knew the safest place to cross was at the pedestrian crossing because traffic knows to stop and wait for us to cross. The trip helped us in our “Road Safety” Unit Study.
First Room 2 went into the bank. So Room 2a went to look in K Mart at their pet supplies. This was a follow-up on our Greedy Cat Unit Study for Financial Literacy.
Next we walked along the pet aisles and looked at the different things we could buy for our pet cat. Some things we would need and some things we might want to buy!
We walked around the store quietly and looked at the products carefully. we read the price labels and saw how much the things cost to buy.
After half and hour (30 minutes) we walked out of the store and went towards the ASB. The staff at the bank greeted us at the door.
Next we came inside and learned about the cash counting machine. It is helpful if you are emptying your money bank, have had a garage sale, or work in a shop!
later we went behind one of the tellers and saw the machine where they count the notes. This machine can also give out notes when you take them out of your bank account.
Last of all we were pleased and surprised to get some gifts from the staff at the ASB. We got a balloon (fun to carry home), a Kashin the Elephant money box, an All Blacks sticker and a colouring in sheet too!
We really enjoyed our time at the ASB learning how we could save some and spend some. Our school has a special banking box in the office where we can bank our pocket money and save up for something great.
Thank you staff from the Hunters plaza ASB, we learned a lot about banking!!
