Rooms 2 and 2a went to the Technology Room on Friday 31st July. We went with Mrs de Koning and Mrs Buckingham.
Before we walked there we had a look at all the photos Mrs de Koning had taken at Animates Pet Store. We especially looked at the pet toys for cats. We talked about what they were made of and what the cat would do with them. Did we want our pet to run, jump, pounce or chase with our toy.
Mrs Buckingham showed us all the different materials we had to choose from when we made our pet toy.
We thought about how we could join the parts of our toy together and what it would look like. We thought our pet would like a bright, colourful toy, one that moved and looked fuzzy, fluffy or feathered like a bird!
All of the things we could work with were put out on the tables for us to choose. Mrs de Koning and Mrs Buckingham put pieces of masking tape and sellotape on the edge of the tables for us to cut pieces of.
Then we got to work!
We talked with each other about what we were doing. Sometimes we helped each other to hold things still. Then it was easier to cut them or join them together.
We had a lot of fun working on our pet toy. Sometimes things went together quickly and easily. But sometimes they didn’t. Some things got tangled. Some things bent of broke. Some things came undone! But we did not give up. We worked hard and kept on trying…
Can you see the things we used to make our toy? Have a careful look…
Now we are finished and everyone held up their toy so we could all say something nice about them. We were very proud of our finished toys and planned to take them home. Some of us had a pet cat. Some would give the toy to our neighbours or Grandparents because they had a cat who would like a toy to play with!
