Thursday 23rd July Rooms 2 and 2a went for a walk to the Papatoetoe Public Library. It was a lovely sunny day and we enjoyed the journey.
We went in quietly and sat in the children’s section while we waited for the ‘Story Time Session to begin at 10.30am. There were other people in the library and so we had t be very sensible and quiet.
We could see that there were a lot of wonderful books on the shelves in the Junior Section of the library. Also we saw some interesting displays. There were special boxes of books too.
Mrs O’Grady read us a funny story to entertain us all.
Next we were invited to move into he centre of the library where the movie screen was set up. We met Chris who is a librarian at the library. He was in charge of the story time for the day. There were other children there to enjoy the story time with us. They came with their parents and caregivers.
It was digital story day and we listened as the story on Chris’ I Pad was projected through the data projecter and onto the big screen.
After the first story we had a time of stretching and moving. It was fun making the scarves move to the music.
It was very enjoyable moving to the beat of the music!
Next we listened to Ani who told us all about joining the Papatoetoe library. All we have to do is bring Mum or Dad or Grandma or Grandpa to the library with us. They need some photo ID, then they can sign us up to join. Then we can get a library card of our own.
Next Ani took us all around the library to see the different areas and displays.
Just before we left the library everyone had time to read some picture books. There were a lot to choose from.
Next we walked back to school. Because we had missed out on play time we hav=d a drink from the water fountain if we were thirsty and had a short play on the playground together before going in to class to write a story about our adventures!!
