Thursday 18th June marked the start of Matariki 2015. Over the next two weeks, the Aroha Syndicate will be learning some the ways we can celebrate Matariki. We will be following these traditions by singing songs, dancing, telling stories about our friends and families, playing string games and learning rakau stick games.
During writing time we have been describing stars. Here is some of our writing about stars:
The Seven Stars of Matariki
The seven stars are bright yellow like the pot of gold you find at the end of the rainbow. They are shaped like diamonds. They are in the dark nights sky. There are seven stars because there are the seven sisters.

The Seven Stars of Matariki
The stars are shinning and yellow. They live in the night sky. There are seven stars because there were seven sisters. They are spiky.

The stars are twinkling up in the sky. They are sparkly and bright. They are sharp and pointy. The stars are growing up in the sky.
