On Thursday 30th April the students from Room 2 and Room 2a walked to the Papatoetoe RSA for a visit. We were very lucky that Jenny from the Papatoetoe Historical Society was there to talk to us about World War 1 and in particular the ANZACS.
We were very lucky that our friends at the RSA had some special poppies for us to make together! There were the red petals, a green stem , a round black sticker and a safety pin too. We enjoyed making the poppy and wearing it back to school.
We were able to look at some artefacts at the RSA, they included medals, a bugle, a map of the world, posters and picture books. Jenny explained what each item was and why it was important.
