Today, the 21st of April Room 2 invited Room 2a to come in and see a presentation of their written language, ‘The Story of Easter. They had looked carefully at a series of Easter posters and talked about the events that the pictures represented. Then in small groups they wrote shared stories to retell the special steps in the Easter Story.
Room 2a really enjoyed hearing the stories and seeing the posters.
Later that morning Mr Young also listened to Room 2’s fantastic Easter Stories.
The first event was Palm Sunday. We hard about Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people cheered as he came into the city. They waved palm branches and laid coats on the road for Him to ride over!
It was a time of happiness and excitement.
The next story shared about Jesus washing the Disciples feet. He was teaching them to serve and love others. Jesus knelt on the floor and cleaned his disciples feet and dried them with a towel. We should be like Jesus helping and caring for others.
The Last Supper
The Last Supper told how Jesus and His disciples were in the upper room sharing a meal. They all sat around the table, even the disciple who would soon betray Jesus. They ate bread and drank wine. Jesus blessed the food and asked the disciples to continue to share the Eucharist together. Jesus broke the bread, “This is my body broken for you.” and He poured the wine, “This is my blood shed for you.”
The soldiers rolled dice, gambling for Jesus clothes, the women below the cross cried and there were two thieves hanging either side of Jesus. Jesus suffered on the cross, he was in pain and knew he was going to die.
Jesus rose from the dead! Yes, when the women came to the tomb they found it was empty. Jesus body was gone – the grave clothes lay empty and there was an angel waiting there. The women were afraid! Where was Jesus? The angel told them the good news……Jesus was alive!!! The ran off to tell the disciples.
