For several weeks Rooms 2 and 2a have been developing their painting skills. First they were motivated by looking at paintings and pictures of birds, in books, on line and in photos.
Then they practised mixing paint colours to make new ones.
We found when we mixed red and yellow we got———-.
We found when we combined red and blue we got ———-.
Then we saw that if we put yellow and blue together we got———–.
Later we discovered mixing red, blue and yellow made———.
Also adding black darkened the shade and adding white lightened the shade of the colour.
We walked to the Tech Room in our painting shirts and took our equipment with us.We prepared the tables and organised the things we needed. We talked about what we had already done on our painting, and what we could do next to add more colour and details. Mrs de Koning showed us some techniques we could use.
Everyone enjoyed painting some more. We chose our favourite colours, and sometimes we mixed new ones. We experimented with the new techniques and talked about how they went. Everyone was very patient as they waited for new blobs of paint on their mixing paper.
When we were finished we put out cloths and brushes in a bucket to be washed and left our paintings to dry on the tables.
We went back to class and Mrs de Koning stayed to do some more tidying up. We walked quietly to class, washed our hands in the bathroom and took off our painting shirts.
