Rooms 2 and 2a went to the staffroom on Friday 19th March to experiment with technology as we made jelly!
Everyone sat quietly and participated in the discussions. We held the jelly packets, looked on them for all the information we could find, and discussed what the text on the boxes told us.
We shared with our friends all the equipment and ingredients we needed to successfully make our jelly.
Everyone got a very small amount of jelly crystals on the palm of their hands. We looked at them, felt them with a dry finger tip and then licked our finger and tasted the tiny, crunchy, sweet granules.
We had to be very careful when Mrs de Koning had added the hot water. Do you know why the water had to be hot? Why did we stir the jelly for a long time? How did the jelly look different as we added the water and then stirred?
Next we put the jelly into clear plastic cups and added the yummy treats – grapes and gummy bears.
After our cups were filled we had to decide how we could best help the jelly to set. The cups went onto trays and then into the fridge to cool and set.
We all said the jelly poem…… “Jelly on a plate, jelly on a plate, wibble – wobble, wibble-wobble, jelly on a plate!”
