On Thursday 26th February Room 2 visited the Hunters Corner ASB with their teachers Mrs O’Grady and Mrs Bucheler. They enjoyed their walk in the sun and were excited to reach the bank.
While there the class was split into two groups and shown around the premises.
It was fun to see the cash machines, the money counting machines and meet the staff who explained lots of financial literacy knowledge!
Everyone in Room 2 received a balloon in the ASB colours to take home with them. They also got a brochure explaining how they could join the ASB and pay into their account each week, at school.
We know we can use the information we learned at the bank to understand more about money. Being able to save makes us independent and confident people.
Back in class we were excited about our gifts.
Look at our special Kashin elephant money banks! And the sheet of stickers too.
Now we know all about how accessible cash is – if we have saved some!
Thank you to our friends at the ASB.
The staff took time out of their busy day to talk to us.
Everyone in Room 2 enjoyed sharing ideas about what we learned at the bank.
Our teachers had a great time with us, we will continue our learning back at school.
We like the ASB theme colour of yellow – it is such a bright, happy colour.
We huffed and we puffed until our balloons were full of air. We hope our money banks can be as full too.
Kashin (November 1968 – 24 August 2009) was an Asian Elephant who spent most of her life at Auckland Zoo. arrived from Como Zoo in the United States in 1973 and remained at Auckland zoo until her death. She was famous for being sponsored by ASB Bank, and featured in the New Zealand produced television programme The Zoo.
Many people come into the bank each day to deposit or withdraw their money.
bLOWING UP BALLOONS CAN BE HARD WORK.
One, two, three….blow!
Wish I could take this home to Mum and Dad!
Now what could I buy with $50.00?
We loved collecting the cash from the machine and holding it. It has such interesting pictures on it. And different colours for each denomination.
Maybe one of us might like to work as a teller at the bank when we start work. It looks really interesting.
Everyone in Room 2 listened carefully to the staff at the bank. We were keen to learn all about saving and managing our money.
We were shown all around the bank!
We learned about how to use an Automatic Teller Machine.
The staff at the bank loves to help people utilise all the options available at the bank for making our money work for us!
Yes, we have a special secure banking box which is in the school office, there we can deposit our pocket money. We can even collect special envelopes from the school office to put our money safely in first.
We would love for our family to ask us about our visit and also talk to us about ideas like, ‘Save some spend some!’ and other things you know about money.
