Welcome to 2015 as part of the Hari Syndicate. Hari means JOY in Maori. Service – Joy is one of our Holy Cross Catholic School values.
There are two teachers in the Hari Syndicate at the moment – Room 2 has Mrs O’Grady who is our DRS (Director of Religious Studies.) and Room 2a has Mrs de Koning (her class starts on 23 February.)
During the first 2 weeks of Term 1 we will be studying a Social Science Unit called “Making Friends” we will be talking about what a friend is, how to be a good friend to ourselves, and the skills we need to be a friend to others in our class and school!
We are learning all about Prayer in RE (Religious Education)- what is prayer? who do we pray to? where can we pray?
Parents and Caregivers: please feel welcome to come in to class before and after school to share with your child what they have been doing in class. This is a great opportunity to chat briefly with your child’s teacher. Please remember though they are busy preparing for the day – so feel welcome to make an appointment for a longer discussion about progress or concerns you have.
Feel free to communicate with the teachers by e mail using their school account:
Mrs O’Grady – email@example.com
Mrs de Koning – firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a reliable way for us to get short notes, reminders and requests promptly and accurately.
We look forward to working and having fun together as we learn during this school year – 2015, in the Hari Syndicate.
Here is a link to a fun website which helps us learn the alphabet sounds we need, to help us read and write confidently.
