The children of the Aroha Syndicate (Year 0-1) will be participating in the Scripture Cup again this year. Each student should have a copy of our reading in their scrap book to bring home every night!
This is an important part of our Holy Cross Week activities. Reading the scripture to ourselves, a buddy, our whole class and finally the syndicate will be a major focus of our Reading Programme during Week 8.
Each class will have their own semi finals to select three children to say the scripture to the whole syndicate in the finals. Mr Young the principal will be our judge on that day. Early next week we will have confirmation of finals day, so parents, caregivers and whanau can come to listen if they wish. Usually the finals are held in the Church.
Here is the text from the scriptures we are reading this year:
The Reading comes from the Book of a Wise Man called Isaiah.
it is no good saying your prayers to me,
if you go on hurting each other,
or if you keep on arguing and fighting,
and punching each other.
You must share things.
You must feed the hungry,
and get houses for the poor people,
and buy clothes for the people who haven’t got enough.
If you do this,
you will make the whole world bright,
you will be like the sun
that fills the sky with light each morning.
This is the Word of the Lord.
Please help your child to practise their Scripture Reading, so they can enjoy the experience and participate fully. Thank you!
